Ciao I am Alfredo, I am 43 years old, I am Italian from a little village near Lucca in Tuscany.  I live in the Sutton Coldfield, West Midlands with my wife Manuela and our son Luca.

 

Before returning to the Midlands 6 years ago I was a professional Chef in Porto Cervo on the island of Sardinia in Italy having travelled and trained around Europe. I am a top quality chef, having worked in some of the most respected establishments in Europe including serving the Aga Khan on his yacht. I excel in the design and preparation of European food especially French and Italian. However, my real passion is for the taste of real Italian home cooked food.

 

My whole life has revolved around food since I was a young boy and used to watch my Nonna Bianca (Grandmother) cook for our large family in Tuscany.

 

I love the fresh products that you can find and pick in Italy, for example -when it was the right season we used to go into the woods and look for Porcini Mushrooms, that are absolutely divine cooked on their own or into a Risotto.

 

Another delightful experience is going out to the mountains with my father in- law Romano, looking for Wild Boar, which is absolutely delicious cooked with Polenta or even eaten with freshly made taglliatelle

 

I have always cooked for families and friends at home or their homes, and on one of our many trips to Tuscany I thought that I could use my passion, skills and knowledge of genuine Italian home made food, by taking it into people's homes and turning this into a job.

 

For this reason I have set up La Cucina, to share the passion, flavour and quality of the ingredients used for Italian cooking .
